Stephen "Doc" Nester

Doc is a life-long motorcyclist with a profound purpose and passion for supporting veterans. He founded American Core, driven by his commitment to making a difference. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 2000, where he earned the title of Corpsman and became known as "Doc." On September 11th, 2001, he deployed to Ground Zero, in New York, on the USNS Comfort as part of Operation Noble Eagle, followed by a humanitarian mission to Diego Garcia, Lithuania, Estonia, and Iraq.

Doc pursued advanced radiology licensing, graduating at the top of his class, and was handpicked by the 1st Marines HQ to train in the Medical Augmentation Program (MAP) with the 1st Recon Battalion from 2003-2004. He furthered his medical expertise at FMF Fleet Marine Service School, focusing on combat and trauma medical training, before being stationed at Naval Hospital Corpus Christi.

In 2006, Doc deployed again with the II Marine Expeditionary Force under the 3/14 Marines as a shock trauma corpsman. After being struck by an IED in March 2007, he returned to service and continued to serve until his medical retirement in 2012. From 2012-2020, Doc worked as a Certified Computed Tomography (CT) tech. Today, he dedicates his time to his family and continues his mission as an agent of healing and change within the veteran and first responder community.
